Becky is a former lawyer turned physiotherapist. Fresh from the UK, she brings with her a diverse physiotherapy knowledge base and experience having worked for both the NHS and private practice. Becky graduated from the University of Winchester in 2022, a renowned educational institution with a 180-year history of academic excellence. From there where she went on to work for Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Foundation Trust. Primarily working in intensive care and the medical services division, specialising in urgent and emergency respiratory care.
Prior to her arrival in Australia, she was a NHS musculoskeletal physiotherapist and worked diligently in a busy private practice alongside this. Becky is always up for a challenge, giving up a legal career was no easy task. She is incredibly passionate about all forms of rehabilitation and health optimisation, with a particular interest in shoulder rehabilitation, health promotion, return to sport and injury prevention.
Becky, has a host of experience in dealing with the following:
· Orthopaedic prehabilitation
· Orthopaedic rehabilitation (upper limb all, lower limb all and spinal)
· General orthopaedic rehabilitation post fracture
· Conservative management of Achilles Tendon Ruptures
· Co-running of hydrotherapy service
· Chronic/persistent pain
· Rheumatological conditions (Sjorgens, fibromyalgia and muscle/joint problems associated with rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory back conditions
· Acute and persistent lower back pain
· Hyper acute stroke rehabilitation
· ACL/MPFL ruptures and post-surgical repair rehabilitation
With a strong medical background Becky understands the psychological impact an injury can have on a person and their hobbies, social interactions, activities of daily living, sport and identity. She also appreciates how existing conditions and associated medications may impact an injury and it’s healing. This formidable understanding allows her to tailor her treatment to each patient intricately in order to maintain as much normality as possible. Becky is highly dedicated to her patients and will always ensure any rehabilitation plan is collated collaboratively, focussing on what is most important to them.
Becky is unable to sit still and loves all sport. On moving to Australia, she added surfing, wakeboarding, reformer Pilates to her list of hobbies. Her primary sport however is CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting. She is aiming to complete an Ironman within the next 2 years too, if she can find the time!
Becky has furthered her knowledge and skills through specialised courses, including Dry Needling and Sports Massage.
